UN Expert Welcomes Trump Executive Order, Munich Security Conference & More
A weekly recap of everything pro-life and pro-family at the United Nations and beyond.
United Nations
🗞 UN Special Rapporteur welcomes Trump’s executive order to protect female sport. Reem Alsalem, UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls and a self-described feminist, set herself apart from her UN colleagues by objecting to radical gender ideology ideas otherwise obediently embraced by the wider “UN human rights” apparatus. Her reports framed the inclusion of biological males in women’s sports as a form of violence against women and asked international sports bodies to stick to gender categories rooted in biology. Alsalem also published papers on the harmful effects of prostitution on women’s rights and flagged surrogacy as a mechanism that commodifies women. She received a great deal of criticism because of her stances, including a letter entitled “There Is No Place for Anti-Trans Agendas in the UN” signed by no less than 550 groups. When Alsalem presented her reports at the General Assembly several months ago, the US, UK, France, and the Netherlands criticized her work for the “anti-transgender” rhetoric. 🗞 C-Fam delivers a statement on behalf of pro-family civil society organizations asking for inclusivity at UN Commission on the Status of Women. Watch the recording below or click here.

🗞 UN Free & Equal, led by the UN Human Rights Office, is a gender ideology program that runs global and national campaigns to rally support for the expression of diverse sexual identities. To counter “oppressive traditional family” structures, UN Free & Equal promotes almost every heterodox variation of “family.” In its most recent X post, UN Free & Equal featured a man with two cats as an example of family. See it for yourself here.

🗞 JD Vance strikes again. This time with a speech at the Munich Security Conference lamenting “the retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values,” including its commitment to free speech. Vance criticized European countries for violating the freedom of expression and conscience of pro-life Christians. Watch the full speech here, the pro-life section here, and read some excerpts below:
“I look to Brussels where EU Commissars warned citizens that they intend to shut down social media during times of civil unrest the moment they spot what they judged to be ‘hateful content’.”
“I look to this very country [Germany] where police have carried out raids against citizens suspected of posting anti-feminist comments online as part of Combatting Misogyny on the Internet, a Day of Action.”
“I look to our very dear friends, the United Kingdom, where [..] the government charged Adam Smith-Connor [..] with the heinous crime of standing 50 meters from an abortion clinic and silently praying for 3 minutes. Not obstructing anyone.”
🗞 ANALYSIS: USAID Targeted Foreign Governments and Americans at Home. “Many Americans are reeling after the White House Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) revealed in recent weeks that USAID spent hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to influence foreign elections and instigate revolutions in other countries. They are only now realizing what most of the world already knew.” C-Fam has the report.
Opinion
🗞 Several days ago, Pope Francis sent a letter to U.S. bishops condemning the mass deportations carried out by the Trump administration. In his message, the Supreme Pontiff urged people "not to give in to narratives that discriminate against and cause unnecessary suffering to our migrant and refugee brothers and sisters," reigniting a moral and political dilemma that, while not new, continues to spark intense debate in society. IYc blogger María Jose Corzo explores the possibility of "reconciling adherence to the law with compassion and justice" while holding governments accountable for creating humanitarian or economic crises that push people to flee their homes. Head here to read María's take.
