US Rejects Gender Ideology at UN, JD Vance Speech at AI Summit & Other Stories

A weekly recap of everything pro-life and pro-family at the United Nations and beyond.

United Nations

🗞 The US is officially back in business at the UN—MAGA business! US diplomats sent shockwaves at recent UNICEF and UN Women meetings when they asked that these agencies stop proliferating DEI and gender ideologies within their programming. The US was the only country speaking up on these issues. Watch the UNICEF debate via UN Web TV, read about it via C-Fam and the Federalist, and catch some excerpts from their statements below:

“These country program documents contain terms and concepts that promote immoral discrimination and advance harmful gender ideology in defiance of biological reality, both of which conflict with US policies. The US objects to any UNICEF projects to advance such programming in counties.”

“It is US policy to recognize two sexes, male and female and not to promote gender ideology.”

“Children should be protected from this dangerous [gender] ideology and its possible results.”

đź—ž The UN migration agency cleans its website from references to DEI and sexual and reproductive health. “The United Nations chief migration agency has been scrubbing its website of references to sexual and reproductive health rights, gender-based violence, LGBTQ+, and diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI, in an apparent effort to stave off steep budget cuts from the United States,” Devex reports.

🗞 The Sovereign Order of Malta held an event at the UN on the ethical challenges of AI. The event featured philosophers and theologians who spoke about the danger of recreating man “in the likeness of machines,” how the secular ethos dominating Silicon Valley impacts machine learning, and how AI can deprive people of meaning by severing interpersonal relationships. Watch it for yourself here.

International

đź—ž US Vice President J.D. Vance told world leaders at the Pairs AI Summit that AI should “remain free of ideological bias,” and that “American AI will not be co-opted into a tool for authoritarian censorship.” Vance criticized governments that use AI to limit free speech, including by censoring so-called “misinformation.” Watch Vance’s speech here.

đź—ž Analysis shows the benefit of aid restrictions to foreign abortion groups. Rebecca Oas of C-Fam reports on a Charlotte Lozier paper arguing that “the Global Protecting Life Rule is actually good for US taxpayers as well as those receiving U.S. assistance overseas.” Read the story here.
