Stefanik Calls for Global DOGE, Censorship in Europe & More

United Nations

🗞 Trump's UN Ambassador Elise Stefanik calls for a global DOGE. During her CPAC speech, Stefanik said she “will work with President Trump, Secretary Marco Rubio, Elon Musk, and the DOGE team to ensure every single dollar that we send to the United Nations is in line with the institution’s founding mission of promoting international peace and security.“ Stefanik went on to say that the US “will not fund anti-Americanism,” thus calling for a “global DOGE.” To read her full remarks at CPAC, head over here.

🗞 UN Commission Will Test Trump’s Resolve on Gender Ideology. “If Trump is successful in blocking the gender agenda at the UN, there are two possible scenarios at the commission. The first is the failure of the UN commission to reach an agreement altogether.[
] A second scenario involves doctoring the final agreement of the commission so that it defines gender as only referring to the two sexes, avoids any controversial language about sexual and reproductive health, and includes explicit assurances of respect for national sovereignty.” Read Stefano Gennarini’s Friday Fax here.

🗞 Report Reveals Vast Divide on Gender Between UN Agencies, Member States. “As the UN prepares to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the landmark Beijing women’s conference, a new report from the Secretary-General raises a key question: are member states being asked to reaffirm what they agreed to in 1995 or an entirely disconnected and controversial agenda being pushed by the UN’s agencies?” Here is the article from Rebecca Oas.

🗞 The UN Secretary-General says social media rollbacks fuel hate speech. Speaking at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Antonio Guterres said that “recent rollbacks on social media fact-checking and content moderation are re-opening the floodgates to more hate, more threats, and more violence." This comes a month after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta will no longer engage in content moderation over free speech concerns. UN “ human rights experts”, favoring content moderation and “fact-checks”, are not happy with these developments. 🗞 IYc Blogger María Jose Corzo reflects on the “My Body, My Choice” slogan and the limits of self-ownership. “One of the most harmful consequences of hegemonic feminism and other ideologies that seek 'liberation' from all hierarchical structures is the belief that bodily autonomy is somehow an end in itself.” Full article here.
