U.S. Congress

  • Ahead of the March for Life, Senate Democrats held a briefing to express their support for the unconstitutional right to abortion. During the briefing, Democrats criticized abortion restrictions nationwide, calling them “cruel,” “extreme.” The Democratic senator from Washington state, Patty Murray, said, "Senate Democrats will not let anyone turn away from the devastation Republicans have caused. And we won't give up on regaining the federal right to an abortion." The briefing took place just before the 2024 presidential election cycle, where democrats are expected to rely on abortion talking points to gain reelection support.

March For Life

  • The International Youth Coalition team was present at the National March for Life in Washington D.C. Our team joined thousands who marched to protect the unborn, and met dozens of young pro-life advocates who came from every corner of the United States (and the world) to celebrate life! Influential Pro-Life Speaker Mike Johnson addressed March for Life sharing his personal story and adding “This is a critical time to help all moms who are facing unplanned pregnancies.” This will be IYc’s precise focus in our upcoming event at the UN for the Commission of the Status of Women in March.

US Agencies

  • Most Americans would agree that parents have the primary responsibility for their children’s upbringing. Yet, a new Biden Administration strategy that would bind all US agencies on issues related to care for children in adversity makes it seem as if it is the government is ultimately responsible for the protection and well-being of children. This is contradictory to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which the US is a party member, which places responsibility for the education and upbringing of children squarely with parents (ICCPR, Article 18). C-Fam is reviewing the strategy and submitting comments to the Biden administration in response to a call for comment from civil society. More on this to come.

Emmanuele Da Ponte

Emmanuele Da Ponte joined the Center for Family and Human Rights (C-Fam) in the summer of 2023 as the Associate Director of Government Relations. He has two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Philosophy and History of the Social Sciences. His main focus is advising and building relationships with Congress and the United Nations to promote truly just legislation that defends and uphold human dignity and family rights.
